The Holy Trinity, GOD in 3 persons

Last week we began looking at the Names given for Christ as found in the first chapter of the Gospel of John. The Name, “Word,” is the first one. We read, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…The doctrine of the Trinity is a deep mystery which can not be fully understood by the finite mind. [Ecclesiastes 3:11; 1 Corinthians 13:12]. However, we may know from Scripture that our God is One God in Three Persons. First of all, the use of 'Elohim' for God in creation where God said, "Let us make man in our own image." Genesis 1:26 is plural. He uses this plural word for Himself again in Genesis 11:7 where He says, "Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad..."Again in Isaiah 6:8 He uses the same term where He says, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?...and He said, 'Go, and tell this people.'"The work of the Holy Spirit can only be done by God so He is God. Genesis 1:2; Judges 6:34 In Matthew 3:16-17 The Father speaks from heaven; the Son is being baptized in the Jordan river and the Holy Spirit comes down. We are commanded "...baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19 Paul signs off his second letter to the Corinthian church with, "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." 2 Corinthians 13:14 Christ says "I will pray to the Father ... He will give you another Comforter."God the Father is God's title in Romans 1:7 God the Son is God's title in Hebrews 1:8 God the Holy Spirit is God's title in Acts 5:3-4 See also John 1:14-18; 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 Meanwhile, be blessed of the Lord Jesus. He said He would send the Holy Spirit Who would teach us about Him [About Jesus] from God's Word. John 14:15-21 and John 16:5-15 When a paralytic's buddies brought him to Jesus for healing the first thing Jesus said to him was, “Your sins are forgiven. The religious leaders reasoned, “Who can forgive sins but God?” Because He is God He is able to forgive your sins and mine. Praise His Name! SCRIPTURE: John 1:1-14; Ecclesiastes 3:11; 1 Corinthians 13:12; Genesis 1:2, 26; 11:7; Isaiah 6:8; Judges 6:34; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Romans 1:7; Hebrews 1:8; Acts 5:3-4; Mark 2:7 NKJV & NLT
